The National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Organizations (NACDAOR) has published a list of demands which include demands for justice and equality for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC). .
The group has challenged the recent judgment given by a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court, which, according to them, undermines the decision made by a nine-judge bench in a particular case Indira Sawhney, founder of the framework. of conservation in India.
NACDAOR has asked the government to set aside this decision as it poses a threat to the constitutional rights of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The group also wants a new law to be moved by the Parliament on reservationfor SC, ST and OBC which should be protected by being included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court had recently given a landmark decision by a majority of 6-1. In this, the implementation of sub-quota in SC-ST community was reasonable. Along with this, the bench had recommended to implement the surface area formula in SC-ST reservation like OBC reservation. However, the Modi government at the Center made it clear that they would not accept the proposal to implement the surface formula.
