In the fourth quarter of 2023, the average monthly salary was BGN 2,123 and increased by 6.2% compared to the third quarter of 2023. The economic activities in which the largest increase was registered were “Education” – by 16.1%, “Human health care and social work” – by 8.3%, and “Real estate operations” – by 7.4%.
As of the end of December 2023, employed persons under labor and service legal relationships decreased by 10.5 thousand, or by 0.5%, compared to the end of September 2023, reaching 2.29 million according to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute.
At the end of December 2023, compared to the end of December 2022, the employed persons under labor and service legal relationship increased by 28.1 thousand or by 1.2%.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 1.6% from the fourth quarter of the previous year and by 0.5% from the third quarter of 2023, according to seasonally adjusted express estimates.
