In contrast to last weekend, head coach Venelin Berov’s juniors want to improve primarily in defense. That was the focus of the training week. “We also have to organize ourselves better offensively, take better care of the ball and make better decisions,” said Berov. Juniors opponent Vechta leads the table in the north of the main round B with two wins and is therefore the clear favorite against the young violets. The Young Rasta Dragons are deep, very athletic, and aggressive on both ends of the field. “If we improve the things mentioned, we have a chance to make the game close and – if everything goes really well – maybe even the opportunity to decide the game for us,” said the junior coach.

Just like the youngsters, their next opponent also lost their first two JBBL games – against the same teams as the Göttingen offspring. “However, their two duels ended up being closer than ours,” says Youngsters head coach Marjo Heinemann. Against Düsseldorf there was a 77-82 defeat for Paderborn; against Vechta the Rhinelander lost 68:76. The Uni Baskets had their first success last Sunday: an 89-72 win against UBC Münster. “We want to gradually eliminate the simple mistakes and thus gain more and more stability,” Heinemann sets the goal for the upcoming games.
