At the beginning of the week, the two Göttingen basketball Bundesliga teams came up with two pleasing details.

Ron Jackson Jr. moves from North Carolina A&T State University (Greensboro, USA) to the Violets and receives a one-year contract. “Ron has a lot of athletic skills that I like and the potential to grow,” says BG head coach Roel Moors about the 23-year-old American. “He can play in positions four and five, which makes him interesting. I also think that he has the right attitude and the right character to play for the BG. ”

Jackson Jr. attended Fleming Island High School in Florida (USA) and moved to Hillsborough Junior College (Florida) in the summer of 2016. Already in his second season for the “Hawks” he was in the starting lineup in all 30 games, scored 13.5 points per game and got 10.5 rebounds. From the summer of 2018, the BG newcomer continued his basketball career in North Carolina and in his first season for the “Aggies” came on average 7.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. In his final year 2019/20, the 2.03 meter tall basketball player was on the starting line-up in 31 of 32 games and again achieved an average double-game per game (15.0 points / 10.4 rebounds). The American was named Team of the Year at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for his accomplishments.

Third Baskets player

After Sandra Azinovic, Ivana Blazevic returns to the flippo Baskets BG 74. The Croatian was one of the top performers in the head coach Goran Lojo team last season.

Power-Forward Blazevic (27) joined the then newly formed flippos in 2019 and showed in the first few games how important she is among the baskets for her new team. At the end of the season that had been canceled due to Corona, she was on the court in 21 games on average for just under 30 minutes. With 10.48 points and 7.52 rebounds per match, she was clearly one of the most important scorers.

Her performance in the home game against leaders Rutronik Stars Keltern was outstanding when on December 21 of last year she was a guarantee for the surprising success of the Baskets against the reigning German champions with 19 points and 17 rebounds.

Similar to the recently signed Samantha Roscoe, the Croatian likes to take litters from a distance. Flippo Baskets Managing Director Richard Crowder: “We are very happy that Ivana is staying in Göttingen. That will make our game a lot more variable in the coming season. “
