The real testing of the early warning system for disasters and accidents BG-ALERT will be held as scheduled and starts on November 7 in Gabrovo. This was stated by the director of the fire department to BNT. Commissioner Angel Jartov.
He explained that the danger notification received earlier this evening, which startled many citizens, was a technical error by the contractor.
“For some time we have been working on the introduction of BG-ALERT, so that our fellow citizens receive information in case of danger. From our side, we are starting official tests according to the established schedule. Before these official tests become a fact, internal ones are carried out. The software developer made a mistake introduced the message to be carried out not in a test, but in a real environment. This is not a mistake of the Ministry of the Interior, nor of the fire department,” Zhartov explained.

In relation to the reported information that the system will only work on phones and devices manufactured after 2020, Jartov explained that the notification will also work on older devices. However, the message will be displayed differently.
On the site bg-alert.bg they also published a schedule according to which the testing will be conducted in the various areas of the country.
The tests will be held on the following dates:
07.11.2023 (Tuesday) – for Gabrovo region
14.11.2023 (Tuesday) – for Vidin, Vratsa, Lovech, Montana and Pleven districts
11/15/2023 (Wednesday) – for Veliko Tarnovo, Razgrad, Ruse and Silistra regions
11/16/2023 (Thursday) – for the districts of Varna, Dobrich, Targovishte and Shumen
21.11.2023 (Tuesday) – for Burgas, Sliven, Stara Zagora and Yambol regions
22.11.2023 (Wednesday) – for Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Pernik, Sofia and Sofia region
23.11.2023 (Thursday) – for the regions of Kardzhali, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan and Haskovo
29.11.2023 (Wednesday) – national test throughout the country
During the conduct of each test for half an hour from 12.00 to 12.30 a message will be broadcast containing text in Bulgarian and English.
The receipt of the message on the mobile device is expected to be one-time and accompanied by a specific sound and vibration, even with silent mode enabled.
