BF Vienna: Room fire in Vienna

On Christmas Eve there was a room fire in Vienna-Leopoldstadt in the area of an Advent wreath and the adjacent Christmas tree. Three people were handed over to the ambulance service. The fire was extinguished with an extinguishing line.

On the night of December 24th to 25th, the Vienna fire brigade was alerted to a room fire in Große Schiffgasse. When the fire brigade arrived, the apartment owner had already left her apartment and the Advent wreath, the Christmas tree and the furniture next to it were on fire. In addition, the stairwell was found smoky as a result of the fire.

As a result, an extinguishing line was immediately put through the stairwell and the fire-fighting started under breathing protection, which meant that the fire could be extinguished after a short time. The other apartments were checked at the same time. The apartment owner was found sleeping in the smoky apartment directly above the apartment on fire and was rescued by the fire brigade.

A total of 3 people were handed over to the rescue service, who examined them as a precaution for signs of smoke gas poisoning. Smoke was removed from the stairwell using an electric high-performance fan. The cause of the fire is currently still under investigation.

Deployed: 11:35 p.m., mission ended: 1:00 a.m.
Number of emergency services: 33, emergency vehicles: 7
