The director of the Reims Museums got in touch with Céline Dumas, director of the Béziers Museums on 11 July. Then he told her that the painting was up for auction on the American continent, in New York, a Auctioneers and experts. The various authorities were able to quickly reach an agreement, given the excellent condition of the painting. An acquisition dossier was quickly compiled by the municipality services. Six days after the first contact, on July 17, everything was ready for participation in the auction.
