LONDON – In 2021, The Washington Post reported under about 2% of the top 1,000 best-selling apps on the Internet App Store contains scams. This shows that Apple’s app store is not completely secure.
And now, an application developer named Kosta Eleftheriou again found something odd on the Mac App Store, where he found an application called My Metronome that kept pop-ups making it difficult for him to exit.

In a post on social media Twitter, Eleftheriou said that this pop-up displays a message that in order to exit the application, you must pay a subscription fee. Yes, this is a scam app.
Eleftheriou also admitted that he had previously identified a number of scam apps for iOS that had successfully passed Apple’s review process.
“I didn’t think this was possible: This App Store app immediately asks you for money and then *disables* the “Sign Out” option so you can never close it! And it’s been like that in the App Store for years!,” he tweeted.
Launching from Engadget, Sunday (17/4/2022), a Mac and iOS developer, Jeff Johnson conducted an investigation into the My Metronome application. He also managed to find interesting facts.
According to him, the developer behind the My Metronome application is located in Russia. Developer My Metronome shares the same address as the Music Paradise and Groove Vibes apps.
It is not clear how many victims and how much damage the My Metronome app will cause. However, a report from The Post says: scam app played a major role in causing tremendous material losses.
It is said that in 2021, a scam application caused a loss of USD 48 million or Rp. 689 billion.
