GridHEALTH.id – Not a few people consider cough as a symptom of a common disease.
Even though more than that, coughing can actually be a sign of a dangerous disease.
It was as conveyed directly by dr. Endang Lukitosari, MPH, as the Sub-Coordinator of the TB Substance of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, at the TBC Campaign Webinar “Unpacking TB Myths, Correct Information Helping Fast Handling” held by GRIDHEALTH X STPI, Thursday (24/03/2022) which was attended by GridHEALTH.id.
According to Luki, people should be alert if they have a cough with phlegm that doesn’t go away.
Where if the cough you experience doesn’t go away for more than 14 days or for 2 weeks, that could be a sign TB disease (tuberculosis).
Luki explained that the incubation period of TB disease has a slower onset, which has an incubation period of up to 14 days.
Therefore, if people have a cough for up to 14 days, it is better to immediately check with a doctor.
“If you cough with phlegm for more than 14 days, the public should be checked for the possibility of TB,” Luki said.
It is known that TB is a highly contagious and deadly infectious disease.
Everyone can get the disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
