“Bank card with no fees and no limits”. “Express financing, without proof”. “New generation credit”. These emails or advertisements tout loans that have it all. Attention! If you click and leave your phone number, a convincing advisor calls you back and offers to put together your file, for a miracle loan or sometimes a loan repurchase (you will repay your old loans that are too heavy with a new loan with lower monthly payments ). “Very quickly, the client is asked for fees (file, insurance or administrative fees, etc.). The advisor disappears as soon as he has received them,” warns Caroline Bontems.
The credit consolidation scam
The credit consolidation is even more penalizing. Because the scammer who claims to be a broker extorts all the documents to take out a loan in your name from which he pockets the money. Even more cunning, he makes you take out this new loan. “When you receive the funds, he asks you to transfer them to him so that he can repay the old loans for you. Then he disappears with the money. The old loans are still running and you also have to repay the new loan,” adds the ACPR expert.
