TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts the Delta variant will become a variant corona virus dominant in the coming months.
This refers to the trend of the spread of the Delta . variant Covid-19 which continues to increase.
“We believe that the Delta variant will quickly overtake the other variants and will become the variant with the dominant distribution in the next few months,” WHO said in a press statement.
The Delta variant, as it is known, was detected in India in October last year.
Before Delta variant, new variant Covid-19 the first to spread was Alpha, originating from England.
After Alpha, the second new variant that appears is Beta, originating from South Africa.
Then there is also a Gamma variant originating from Brazil.
Last WHO added strain corona virus named Mu as a variant of interest (VOI). This variant was first identified in Colombia in January 2021.
Regarding the Delta variant, since its early appearance in India, this variant is said to be able to make it easier for someone to be treated in a hospital if exposed.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Siti Nadia Tarmizi said, currently the Delta variant has become the most dominant circulating variant in the world in the last 60 days.
