“A medical practice from Pesaro also ended up in the network: we filed a complaint and the company compensated 3,500 euros.” Lawyer Floro Bisello, Adusbef national secretary, warns against telephone scams. “Last year alone we received at least fifty reports from as many citizens who declared they had been targeted by this type of scam. Here is the dynamic to which we must pay attention. You receive a phone call from a voice asking for confirmation of the own identity: ‘you are Mr….’, to the question the victim replies ‘yes’ and at that point the communication is interrupted: the scam consists in recording the ‘yes’ of the person who answers and then using it through a clever job of copying and pastes in a new audio recording with which to request, for example, a change of electricity or gas supplier. Within a month the person defrauded is informed that they have switched to another provider and realizes this with the first bill, by which time the contract was finalized. In the case of the medical practice, the holder of the electricity contract was the wife: we presented a complaint to the Arera (Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment) and the Antitrust against the company Facile.energy srl and the latter compensated the customer with the return of all the bills paid for an amount of approximately 3,500 euros”.
