Commercial event locations, hotels and professional organizers know this: the phone rings and someone promises to send more guests and clients. Sounds incredible? It is. Because the supposed benefactors only want one thing: to conclude long-term, expensive contracts.
The corporate network
In the past we have already reported that AVAS Marketing + Consulting GmbH from Magdeburg addresses tradesmen and other service providers with unsolicited advertising calls and then provides an entry in an Internet business directory for customer referral purposes. Previously, we had already reported in September 2023 that the above-mentioned AVAS Marketing + Consulting GmbH or, at times, AVAS UG was making unsolicited calls to small hotels and room rental companies with a comparable customer referral offer.
Always the same stitch
Although the entrepreneurs who receive unwanted calls usually just want to brush off the call, the emails that follow the call always claim that a contract has been concluded for a “trial phase”. Hidden in the information about the alleged conclusion of the contract is the claim that the one-month “free trial phase” automatically becomes a two-year paid contract term if the entrepreneur does not object within 14 days. These emails often end up unseen in SPAM folders or outraged self-employed people do not initially respond at all. Very quickly after the 14 days have passed, the bill arrives for many 100 euros because of the alleged conclusion of the contract.
Questionable service advertising entry
At this point, the alleged contractual partners who were called unwanted have usually not used any service and never wanted to. The entries in the company directories, which are actually and apparently automatically created by the provider, are often quite bland. In some cases, photos from company websites are also included, but often without obtaining an express license from the authors of the photos in advance. As already reported, the AVAS Marketing + Consulting GmbH website itself also makes a dubious impression with obvious fake reviews (see screenshot in the article just linked).
EVENTpoint24 GmbH targets event locations
But small craftsmen and room rental companies are not the only target group for this scam. As we have now been able to determine, there is another GmbH that targets event locations, hotels and event rooms. This is EVENTpoint24 GmbH. Interestingly, like AVAS Marketing + Consulting GmbH, this EVENTpoint24 GmbH has its headquarters at Olvenstedter Chaussee 104 in 39130 Magdeburg. It also has the same managing director, Jürgen Scholz. Jürgen Scholz apparently has an entire network of companies under his control, which wants to conclude questionable contracts for various industries using “cold calls” in order to be able to bill expensive contracts with long terms for many 100 € per individual case for loveless advertising entries on irrelevant websites.
“Cold calls” are usually illegal
The basic rule on the phone is: don’t go into anything! Please do not allow any information to be sent to you by email! Nevertheless, check your email inboxes regularly!
The unsolicited advertising calls from EVENTpoint24 GmbH are so-called “cold calls”. “Cold calls” are almost always illegal against companies and therefore represent an inadmissible interference with your established and operating business. This gives you the right to retaliate. How? We do it for you!
Supposedly contract? We help!
If you have already received an invoice from EVENTpoint24 GmbH because a contract is said to have been concluded, we advise you not to pay it. Send us the invoice and all correspondence for review without obligation. Using your information, we will begin the initial inspection immediately. If possible, we will make you an offer and reject the unfounded demands of EVENTpoint24 GmbH. We can also use this opportunity to complain about possible legal violations by EVENTpoint24 GmbH. The above-mentioned sister company of EVENTpoint24 GmbH, AVAS Marketing + Consulting GmbH, has already been sentenced by the Flensburg Regional Court to refrain from making advertising telephone calls (LG Flensburg, judgment of April 8, 2022, Ref.: 8 O 7/22).
