HELLO SEMARANG – Semarang City Health Bureau (Dinkes) has reported a case of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) after a recent flood incident. So attention needs to be given to the community so that they continue to implement a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) after the flood.
Semarang city health bureau chief Moh Abdul Hakam said his party had been carrying out active surveillance in the flooded areas. Namely, among them in Mangkang, West Semarang, Gayamsari, North Semarang and Pedurungan. From the surveillance results, the larval absence rate (ABJ) in these areas has a low percentage, less than 50. In fact, the ABJ is expected to be greater than 95.
In addition, the Health Authority also carried out non-structural tests 1 (NS1) for the flood victims who had a fever. His team reported a case of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) in West Semarang.
“During a flood, there is a lot of water, there are many larvae in the puddles. As found yesterday in West Semarang area there was one case of DHF. The NS1 exam results were positive,” Hakam said on Tuesday (10/1/2023).
Additionally, Hakam added, the Health Bureau has also conducted environmental health checks. In which agents enter the homes of residents to measure the PH of the water. If the PH is below 7, germs can be suspected. Similarly, if the PH content is above 8, you also need to be aware that it contains bacteria, such as high E-coli content.
“This is followed by Labkes. The hope is not to consume water sources that are not in a mature state,” he added.
Meanwhile, to prevent the spread of dengue after the floods, he encouraged the community to clean up the remaining water in their homes and surroundings. So that the water does not become a nest for mosquitoes. The water that is used for a long time can be shot down or mosquito repellent. In addition, the community should also perform routine mosquito nest eradication (PSN).(HS)
