PR BOGOR – Recently it was reported that there had been a new extraordinary event (KLB) besides Covid-19, namely Norovirus which attacks the digestive organs.
Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine FKUI-RSCM, Prof. Dr., dr Ari Fahrial Syam SpPD (K) MMB, FINASIM, FACP explained that the virus is not a new virus.
Norovirus, he said, is one of the main causes of acute infection (gastroenteritis) worldwide.

Ari Fahrial Syam said the virus had appeared on Indonesia, as has been reported by researchers Indonesia in the Journal of Medical Virology in May 2020.
The research showed that there were 14 samples of 91 stool samples or approximately 15.4 percent who were infected Norovirus.
“The research sample which was conducted in early 2019 was taken from several hospitals in the city of Jambi. The same case has also been reported from several cities in Indonesia, “said Ari Fahrial Syam.
He continued, he said Norovirus can be transmitted through food or what is often called food borne, and is different from Covid-19, which is transmitted through droplets.
