KAB. TANGERANG – Cikuya Community Health Center, Solear Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency provided socialization about the dangers of leptospira or rat urine and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Munjul Village, Solear District.
Epidemiological investigations (PE) were carried out from house to house or door to door, especially for patients affected by leptospira cases, Tuesday (16/11/2021).
“Door to door PE activities are carried out to check the patient’s health condition after being treated and provide understanding to the public about the dangers of disease and how to prevent it so that later it does not become an epidemic in the rainy season,” said dr. Taufik Nugraha in his statement.
In the epidemiological investigation, officers examined two residents infected with leptospira and three other residents suffering from dengue fever.
“Not only examining patients”
people who are affected, we also provide medicine for patients who are not healthy, “he said.
According to him, one of the symptoms of leptospira disease is fever and infection caused by leptospira bacteria. Usually, the disease enters through the injured skin.
“The bacteria enter human skin with abrasions or open wounds, so they are easily infected. For example, the skin on the feet is scratched, hit by a stone. Because there is a small wound, it can be an opportunity for bacteria to enter. This disease can be transmitted through exposure to water or soil that has been contaminated with the urine of animals carrying leptospira bacteria,” he explained.
The health team also appealed for prevention to be carried out in areas where there are many rats due to puddles of water during floods, in rice fields, plantations, and livestock.
Prevention can be done by using boots and gloves on skin in contact with water. In addition, wash your feet and hands with soap before and after activities
The public is also asked to be aware from an early age by taking some prevention of dengue fever, including implementing 3M plus, namely draining water containers, closing water containers and recycling used goods that have the potential to become mosquito breeding grounds.
“I also appeal to the people of Solear District to be responsive if there are family or neighbors who experience high fever. It is better to immediately be taken to the health center for early treatment,” he added.
