“Beware of High Prices for Xbox Series S and X Storage Expansion Card: Cheaper Alternatives Available”

At the beginning of May, Microsoft announced a significant discount on the Seagate Storage Expansion Card, i.e. expansion storage for the Xbox Series S and X consoles. It costs a third less in the USA, and now the changes have also been reflected in the Czech Republic. SSDs with capacities of 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB cost from 2600, 4000 and 7500 CZK. Until recently, they cost 3,700, 6,300 and 11,500 CZK.

The price drop is nice, but it doesn’t match the crash that memories of all kinds are experiencing right now. Classic M.2 cards for a computer or PS5 console are several times cheaper. For example, fast models Samsung 980 Pro, Kingston KC3000 and others can be bought in 2TB capacity starting from CZK 3,200. For PS5 purposes, a 2TB Kingston NV2 is even available for 2000 CZK.

Xbox users are completely beaten by the fact that they have to use proprietary solutions and that the market lacks competition. After two and a half years, only Seagate still supplies SSDs for Series S and X, although Microsoft promised that other manufacturers would also arrive. We already know that Western Digital is also preparing expansion cards, but they still do not deliver them to stores.
