Chartres metropolis (Eure-et-Loir) has recently identified several complaints concerning fraudulent canvassing by telephone.
These are operators claiming to be mandated by Chartres Métropole or the City of
Chartres, for humidity readings in the accommodations.
Residents urged to be vigilant
Chartres Métropole invites residents to be vigilant, to report any practice that seems questionable to them and not to follow up on these false solicitations.
Merchants are also invited to be vigilant with regard to canvassing aimed at selling advertising space on city maps or directories of merchants.

Scam attempt
“If this company claims a mandate from the City of Chartres or Chartres Métropole for the realization of these plans, it is possible that it is a scam attempt and that these plans or other supports are never published” specifies the agglomeration.
In any event, neither the City of Chartres nor Chartres Métropole appoints commercial companies for the publication of any medium whatsoever, nor does it resort to the financing of their media by financial solicitation from traders or other economic players in the territory.
The City of Chartres and Chartres Métropole will take any action that proves necessary in the event of damage.
█ Practical:
Companies that would be – or would have been approached – under cover of a mandate from the City of Chartres or Chartres Métropole are invited to make themselves known to the Communication Department of Chartres Métropole ([email protected] and via the general switchboard 02 37 23 4000, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.).
