Beware of dengue fever! Kotim community encouraged to be active in the 3M movement

USE -The East Kotawaringin District Health Service (Kotim) continues to encourage the community to be more active in efforts to prevent Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) entering this rainy season . The Secretary of the Health Service, Kotim Ali, confirmed that the role of the community is very important in eliminating mosquito nests through the 3M movement: Drain, Cover and Burial.

“Currently, the biggest challenge is to increase public awareness to eliminate mosquito nests (PSN). Smoke only kills adult mosquitoes, while larvae will continue to breed if the environment is not to clean up,” said Ali, Friday (11/10).

Ali emphasized that the 3M movement must be done regularly by every household. The public is advised to clean the environment regularly and do PSN at least once a week. “Without the active participation of the community, it will be difficult to eradicate dengue fever effectively,” he said.

Socialism in terms of PSN and 3M continues to be enhanced by the Health Service down to RT/RW level. Ali explained that his party had done various outreach activities, but that the biggest impact would be if the community took an active part.

“The community is the front line of defense in preventing dengue fever. Preventive measures are more important than just relying on smoke. If this awareness is created, the spread of dengue fever can be reduced,” Ali said. .

Although dengue cases in Kotim are still under control, the Health Service reminds that an increase in cases usually occurs between November and January. “DHF can be fatal if not treated quickly, especially for children who have more vulnerable immune systems,” Ali said.

With cooperation between the government and the community, it is hoped that dengue prevention efforts will be more effective, so that dengue cases in Kotim can be reduced. (CLIK-RED)
