Singapore will prohibit entry of people who in the past 14 days have a history of travel to India, a country that is now being hit by a second wave of pandemics Covid-19.
As reported ReutersSingapore’s Ministry of Health stated that this policy will take effect from Friday (23/4) at 23:59 local time for all visa holders, both long and short term.
The Straits Times reported that people who have a history of travel to India and are now in Singapore and have not passed the 14-day quarantine period are also asked to continue isolation.
The Singaporean government asked them to continue their isolation in designated facilities, not in residences.
At present, Singapore is also investigating the Covid-19 case in one of the migrant worker dormitories where 17 people who have recovered from Covid-19 have returned to be infected with the corona virus.
Singapore authorities have now quarantined more than 1,100 residents of the migrant hostel.
The Singaporean government has said that travel restrictions with India will help curb potential cases in dormitories. This is because most of the migrant workers in the hostel come from India.
Until now, Singapore has recorded a total of 60,880 Covid-19 cases with a death toll of 30 since the pandemic took place.
Meanwhile, India itself is being hit by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic with daily cases breaking world records.
According to a report by the Ministry of Health of India, the increase in cases in the country in a day reached 314,835 cases.
With this surge, the total corona cases in India as of Thursday (22/4) reached 15.93 million with a death rate of 184,657.
Not only Singapore, Hong Kong has also tightened its immigration rules. They ban flights from three countries, one of which is India.
