Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Pandu Sjahrir revealed, the trend of investing in crypto assets has recently continued to show an increase.
Pandu said that crypto assets are indeed relatively new as one of the investment instruments of choice with a high level of risk.
“For me, this is still very new, for people who don’t really understand, I think it’s one of the investment alternatives that you can say high risk. Because in my opinion there are still many people who have not studied well from the side blockchain technology maupun underlying cryptocurrency,” he said in a discussion entitled Investment Trends for 2022, Indonesia Knowledge Forum (IKF) X-2021, Thursday (7/10).
Although relatively new, the growth of crypto investors in Indonesia is currently quite large, reaching 8 million investors.
In the next 2-3 years, he believes the number has the potential to continue to grow to 20 million people who have crypto asset accounts.
“Indonesia already has 8 million crypto accounts, this has become a fairly large part of society, it could be 20 million in the next 3 years,” he said.
The greater the use, the higher the risk in the financial system. Some countries such as the United States and China regulate further on this matter, whereas, in Indonesia currently crypto assets are not allowed as a means of payment.
“You could say this is a high risk investment, if this currency Back to the crypto way of thinking, there really is no central bank here, so this is a fundamental difference,” he said.
Even so, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Fintech Association’s Daily Management Board assessed that there is no specific limit regarding the percentage required to invest in crypto.
The reason is, every crypto asset investor can determine different percentages according to their investment goals.
“I’m a professional investor, my position is an asset class that can be invested, the percentage can be different [tiap investor], “he said.
