Beware! Heavy Penalties and Prison Time for Baccalaureate Fraud Revealed by Dijon Academy

On the eve of the philosophy test, the Dijon Academy unveiled the penalties and penalties incurred in the event of baccalaureate fraud. Heavy penalties, which can range from a reprimand to several years in prison.

If you were hesitating to do a cheat sheet for the baccalaureate, it’s not too late to give up. The penalties and sanctions unveiled by the Dijon Academy may make you change your mind.

The 2023 bac already started in March, with the written specialty tests. The symbolic philosophy test is held this Wednesday, June 14, and the anticipated French written test on June 15. The grand oral will close the baccalaureate this year, from June 19 to 30.

Like every year, establishments hunt for fraudsters. And this also involves deterrence, upstream of the baccalaureate. The academy informs that communicating with other candidates during the tests, using unauthorized documents or material constitutes fraud.

It is also forbidden to give up your place to another person to take the exam on your behalf. In the event of flagrante delicto or attempted fraud, the supervisor in charge of the room can take the necessary measures to put an end to it.

Penalties can be very heavy for anyone who breaks the rules. This can range from reprimand, to the deprivation of any mention on the diploma, up to the prohibition to take any examination for five years. And that includes the baccalaureate.

This can also have an impact on higher education, since the person cannot follow post-baccalaureate training courses provided by a public institution, and therefore obtain a higher education diploma.

The sanctions are going crescendo. For falsification of documents, you can incur three years in prison and pay a fine of 50,000 euros. If you let someone take the exam for you, you may incur up to 10 years in prison and pay a million euro fine. Disclosure of subjects in advance is punishable by three years in prison and 9,000 euros.

The Dijon academy ensures that systems are in place to fight against fraud. For example, since 2013, “all academies are equipped with mobile phone detectors, the number and location of which are confidential.”

As a reminder, the results will be communicated on July 4, 2023. This year, 15,072 candidates take the baccalaureate in the Dijon academy. We wish all these candidates success, of course on their own!
