The forced absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic opens up two topics for debate. The first is closely linked to the absence of the Swedish champion and to the options that Stefano Pioli – also given the unavailability of Leao and Saelemaekers – will have to implement at least for the next two weeks. The second, and here the management is called into question, concerns the January market and the need to hire a deputy Zlatan. The Swede is irreplaceable, but Lorenzo Colombo alone cannot be enough as the first effective striker available. But let’s go in order.
DIFFERENT OPTIONS – Already last night, when Ibra’s face darkened as he entered the San Paolo tunnel, it was understood that the extent of the injury was not insignificant. 2-3 weeks off to get him back are a high price to pay, but Milan have already shown that they know how to repay the bad luck regarding the Swede’s absences by compacting themselves more. Stefano Pioli will have several options to choose from. Assuming that Ante Rebic will play the center forward, the construction of the trident behind him proves interesting, always trying to maintain a certain balance. The first option – with Saelemaekers out – is a trio made up of Castillejo, Calhanoglu and one between Hauge and Brahim Diaz. The second could include the inclusion of Krunic wide on the left to give more balance in the double phase while the third, when Leao returns, would see the return of the Portuguese among the owners, but with Rebic wide on the left and Rafael first striker with the possibility of exchange roles. The opening of the ballot on the right between Castillejo and Brahim should not be ruled out either.
MARKET OF JANUARY – On several occasions Maldini and Massara, at the end of the market, said they were satisfied with the composition of the squad, even if at least two pieces (central defender and first alternative striker) remained uncovered. In January, at least a few weeks ago, the goal was to focus primarily on the central defender, but now the theme of the reserve center forward is back. Many, among the fans and among the professionals, ask themselves the fateful question: “But who can come to Milan knowing they are playing Ibra’s reserve?”. Someone who wants to join a competitive group, knowing that the Swede can concede a few games and with the desire to believe in the work program of Pioli and the management. The need for action is again evident. There is a month and a half to the opening of the market, but a first tip is needed.
