The fight for justice was their mission: Michael Knight and his talking and self-driving car KITT formed an unbeatable team in the series “Knight Rider” (1982-1986). Starring (next to the car): David Hasselhoff, who attained his first notoriety as a result. When he walked across the beach in Malibu as lifeguard Mitch in red swimming trunks from 1989, it was all over for the fans. And now he’s celebrating his 70th birthday – staying true to his two successful series.
“I didn’t want to be alone that day, I wanted to celebrate with my old crews from ‘Knight Rider’ and ‘Baywatch’. Everyone is invited, but I don’t know who’s coming,” he told dpa. Even at 70, he’s still in great shape.
“My muscles sort of have a memory. I still have them from my time on Baywatch.” By the way, he doesn’t have any problems with his age. “I’m very relaxed about it. Seven is my favorite number anyway. So 70 is totally fine. We should live life until it’s over. Who knows when it’s over. Maybe when you cross the street. So I’m enjoying it as much as I can.”
He has lived by this motto for a long time, even when he started his musical career. Because the first two albums with love ballads were only crowned with success in Austria and Switzerland. It was different when he shared 1989 with Jack White “Looking for Freedom” in Kitzbühel. Even today, the song is associated with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The rumors that Hasselhoff contributed to the fall of the Berlin Wall persist, as he sang his hit in front of the Brandenburg Gate just a few weeks later. “I never had anything to do with it and never said so. Never. I sang a song about freedom. And it happened to be number one when the wall fell,” says Hasselhoff.

The big musical breakthrough in the USA has not materialized so far. “I didn’t really give it my all at the time to have this great success in America. I just did what was in front of my feet. I became famous around the world. And the fact that I was neglecting America at the time didn’t bother me .”
“The Hoff” went through a difficult time privately. In his biography he writes about his alcohol addiction and how he got rid of it. Since then, no alcohol has been served to the fans at his concerts.
Privately, Hasselhoff is in his third marriage Hayley Roberts (42) married, with wife number 2 Pamela Bach (58) he has two daughters Taylor-Ann (32) and Hayley Amber (29). In addition to the performance at the Berlin Wall, “the happiest moments of my life”.
