Between food and health: chefs, doctors and winemakers talk about healthy life

The series of meetings created by Professor Gino Gerosa on the relationship between nutrition and well-being takes place live on Facebook and will continue until May 5

A journey in search of healthy life: the project of the cycle of twelve “conversations” is called “Healthy Living”, which will feature great chefs, leading names in the world of wine and renowned doctors in an interdisciplinary debate on the theme of food well-being, for the body and the mind. The meetings, lasting one hour, will be broadcast every Wednesday, from 7pm to 8pm, starting from February 17 and until April 28, live on the Youtube page of the University of Padua. This reflection on healthy life will be presented tomorrow 10 February at the Museum of the City of Rovereto, guests of the famous cardiac surgeon from Trentino Gino Gerosa, a graduate and specialist at the University of Verona (where he worked for years), currently director of the Company’s School of Specialization hospital University of Padua; the Magnificent Rector of the University of Padua, Rosario Rizzuto; the general manager of Venicepromex – Agency for internationalization, Franco Conzato. The event, broadcast live on the Youtube page of the University of Padua, will also be attended by the president of the Civic Museum Foundation of Rovereto, Giovanni Laezza, and the engineer Renato Benintendi who will close the meeting with the reading «From the wine of Isis to banquets of Apuleius, between custom and myth ».

THE PROJECT. “In the last twenty years, nutrition has taken on a leading role in maintaining health in the world population and is considered an essential primary prevention tool”, underlines Professor Gerosa, an internationally renowned surgeon, member of the Health Chef Scientific Committee and creator of Healthy Living 2021. «Let’s not forget that a healthy diet promotes well-being, improving the quality of life and extending it. The aim of these meetings is to spread the culture of healthy eating as the best prevention of disease and general psychophysical well-being. The conversations on Healthy Living are the natural continuation of the Health Chef project, which has been in operation since 2019 ».

THE OBJECTIVES.Health Chef is a registered trademark of Venicepromex”, underlines the general manager Franco Conzato, “it is led by a scientific committee of excellence, made up of professionals from science and cooking who support the operators of the catering sector in this process of change. With the conversations on health living we want to continue and deepen our experience with the aim of raising awareness on the issues of nutrition and health and at the same time promoting the numerous excellences of the area. A wide-ranging project, in which the partnership with the University of Padua plays a fundamental role ». “There is a close link between nutrition and health, two” fundamental human rights “in close correlation, as underlined by the World Health Organization”, adds Rosario Rizzuto, Rector of the University of Padua. “Nutritional well-being is therefore a global issue of crucial importance: a correct eating style, for example, can significantly reduce the incidence of cardiovascular diseases and cancers. The food choices we make have a strong impact on our health: the “Healthy Living” meetings aim to strengthen this awareness ».

THE PROGRAM. It begins on February 17 with “(In) form”: chef Alfio Ghezzi, heart surgeon Gino Gerosa and Stefano Marzadro of the Casa del Vino della Vallagarina will explore the role of doctors and restaurants in promoting wellbeing to improve the quality of life. On February 24, “To each his own”: chef Massimiliano Alajmo will discuss with Professor Gerosa and with Roberto Anselmi, from Cantina Anselmi in Monteforte, they will talk about how nutrition can affect the health of men and women in different ways. «Learning to feel good, everyone» is the theme of the conversation on 3 March with chef Alfonso Iaccarino, the president of Agenas Enrico Coscioni and Andrea Ferraioli of the Marisa Cuomo cellars. On 10 March the theme will be “Feeding the heart” with chef Norbert Niederkofler, cardiologist Roberto Bonmassari (who graduated and specialized at the University of Verona) and Karl Gasser (Cantina di Terlano), who will talk about food allies for cardiovascular well-being. “Move!” is the invitation that will be launched on March 17 by Mauro Buffo, chef of the “12 Apostoli” restaurant in Verona, who will talk with the heart surgeon Augusto D’Onofrio and Veronica Adami, of the Cantina Ca ‘Pigneto di Negrar, on the inseparable combination between physical activity and nutrition which, together, contribute to well-being. On March 24, the famous Veronese chef Giancarlo Perbellini, the psychiatrist Fabrizio Starace and Dante Bonacina, from Cantina Ca ‘del Bosco, will talk about the ingredients for mental well-being, or “The recipe for happiness”. After Easter, on April 7, the restaurateur and butcher Dario Cecchini, the general manager of the Santobono-Pausilipon Hospital of Naples, Rodolfo Conenna, and Giovanni Battista D’Orsi, of the Tuscan Cantina, will discuss on the theme “Eat that passes you” Casaloste. Nutrition in the hospital as a tool for therapy but also for the well-being of the patient is in the spotlight. A week later, on April 14, the theme will be «New air in the kitchen for a table to breathe»; the chef Giuseppe D’Aquino of the “Famiglia Rana” restaurant in Valais, the thoracic surgeon Giuseppe Silvestre, of the Verona hospital, and Sandro Boscaini, president of Masi Agricola di Gargagnago, will talk about the correlation between nutrition and breathing to nourish the body and mind. «Forever young» will be at the center of the discussion on 21 April, guests will be the chef Eligio Paties Montagner, the cardiac surgeon Gerosa and Tanita Danese, from Cantina Fongaro di Roncà, who will reveal the secret of eternal youth. On April 28, “The time of the” spirit “” will be the theme addressed by the Paduan restaurateur Stefania Martinato, by Professor Gerosa and by Father Stefano Visintin, from the Cantine dell’Abbazia di Praglia, who will reflect on good food and wine for the balance of mind, body and spirit. The “Conversations” will close on May 5 again at the Rovereto City Museum where Gino Gerosa, Franco Conzato, Giovanni Laezza and Renato Benintendi will comment on the results and prospects of this “journey” between body and mind. •
