/ world today news/ For the 18th year in a row, Sozopol will become the summer capital of culture in the days between August 30 and September 8, when the city will host the “Apolonia” 2012 Arts Festival.
Vice President Margarita Popova will be visiting Sozopol for the opening of the “Apollonia 2012” Arts Festival. At 10:00 a.m. in the municipality, Vice President Popova will meet with the Mayor of Sozopol Panayiot Reizi and the Regional Governor of Burgas Region, Konstantin Grebenarov.
A total of 67 diverse and interesting events comprise the 10-day program of this year’s “Apolonia”, organized by the “Apolonia” Foundation and the Municipality of Sozopol. The city’s amphitheater will host a total of 9 concerts, with the first of which – on August 31, the festival itself will be officially opened. The world-famous opera prima Alexandrina Pendachanska will appear on stage on this day, who will delight the Bulgarian audience with her performances accompanied by pianist Ludmil Angelov. The official opening of “Apolonia” will be accompanied by the presentation of traditional awards. On August 31, the author of a photo from previous editions of the festival will be announced, who will win the grand prize in the “My Apollonia” photo contest, organized by the “Apolonia” Foundation and UBB . More than 35 original photos, capturing unforgettable moments of the festival events since 1984, have been received for participation so far. In the following days after the opening of “Apollonia”, the public will be able to attend the concerts of Angel Zaberski Big Band in the Amphitheater ” Brass Association, Vasil Petrov, “Akaga” with Lyubo Kirov, Mariana Popova and Dani Milev, folk dance theater “Nayden Kirov” from Ruse with the special participation of Kamen Donev, and many others. Specially for participation in “Apolonia” 2012 Dublin arrives Gospel Choir – one of the few ensembles that work with stars of the world music scene such as Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, John Legend, Damien Rice.
