At the end of May of this year, authorities and managers of the agencies that operate the delivery of international packages sent to Cuba, gave an assessment of how the delivery of these packages to the residents of the island has behaved so far. Some entities such as Correos de Cuba or Aerovaradero, specified that their waiting time is between 31 and 61 days.
Until the beginning of the current month, these entities had received a total of 160,552 international packages, to a greater extent by Correos de Cuba and Palco, also Aerovaradero, as well as the Freight Forwarding Company (Transcargo). According to these entities, of that amount, more than 153,000 are already in the hands of their recipients.
There is still a debt of more than 900 packages, which exceed the 30 days established for their distribution and which are destined for more than 400 people. They point out “different reasons”, not detailed.
Also it was informed that although in some entities such as Correos, the number of packages has decreased, but at a general level the quantities remain stable. Especially after the increase in packages, from 1.5 kg, to 3 kilos today. What they did report as a decrease was the “level of customer dissatisfaction.”

Mayelín Gotera López, general director of Aerovaradero S.A, pointed out that some 504 packages are counted in her warehouses, which accumulate between 31 and 61 days of stay, which are managed from the International “José Martí” in Havana. Gotera expanded that they are looking for alternatives with private carriers to improve delivery times.
From Correos de Cuba they pointed out that they handle a similar number of packages as that of Aerovaradero, and until the beginning of June they accumulated 23,944 packages. He pointed to some provinces as the most delayed in deliveries: Holguín, Las Tunas, Sancti Spíritus and Ciego de Ávila.
