Actress Betty White fell asleep on Friday morning.


Just weeks before her 100th birthday, Betty White fell asleep peacefully in her home on Friday.

The popular American actor started his career in the 1940s, and eventually got his own radio program.

She made her breakthrough in 1972 in the role of Sue Ann Nivens in the series “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, but she is best known from the TV series “Golden Girls” which was on screen from 1985 to 1992.

In her 60-year career, she has won seven Emmy awards, one of which was thanks to the TV series, also called “The Panther Aunts” in Norwegian.

She is also known to the Norwegian audience in the romantic comedy “The Proposal” from 2009 with stars such as Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

With an impressive 115 acting roles throughout his career, White established himself as a television icon in the United States and worldwide.

As an 88-year-old, White became the oldest person to lead an episode of the comedy show “Saturday Night Live” in 2010.

Talked about health

She should have turned 100 on January 17, a milestone few people get to experience. Ahead of the 100th anniversary, the actor appeared in an interview with People, where she among other things talked about her good health as soon as 100 years old.

– I am so lucky to have such good health and feel so good at this age, it’s fantastic, the actor veteran said in the interview.

At the same time, she revealed that diet was not a major cause behind her long life.

– I try to avoid everything green. I think it works, she said jokingly.

White’s agent took the news of the death seriously.

“Even though Betty was about to turn 100, I thought she would live forever,” her agent Jeff Witjas told People magazine.

Several take to social media to honor and mourn the famous actor.

A user on Twitter says she would not live in a world without Betty White, and reports that New Year’s Eve is ruined as a result of the death.


Former member of “Saturday Night Live” and comedian, Seth Meyers, remembers Betty White as the humorous lady she was.


– She was the only SNL host I have ever seen few standing ovations at the afterparty. A party where she ordered a vodka and a sausage, and stayed until the bitter end.

For her former co-star, Ryan Reynolds, sees the world differently without her, and remembers her as a lady who defied the promises.


– We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret, Reynolds writes, referring to the People interview where White revealed his secret behind a long life.

Like many others, actress Viola Davis believed that White seemed immortal, writing that she “blew a big hole in this world that will inspire generations.”
