BACKGROUND FAGIOLI, THE FIRST BLITZ IN MAY Corriere dello Sport reconstructs Nicolò Fagioli’s last months regarding the betting case. The first police raid took place on May 23rd, the day after the sentence with which Juventus was awarded the 10 penalty points. The investigators are asking the midfielder to account for a meeting, which took place in the previous days in a bar in Turin, with one of the suspects in the maxi-investigation into betting conducted by Manuela Pedrotta, prosecutor of the terrorism and subversion of public order group. Fagioli denies the extortion attempt against him but says everything about the rest: “I bet”. At that point he warns Juventus, turns to two lawyers and contacts the FIGC prosecutor’s office, requesting a hearing even before the Turin magistrates send the documents to the Football Federation. At the end of May he told his story to the federal prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné: the money thrown away (more than 1 million) and also the modus operandi of the “betting system” which involved other colleagues.
