CHARLOTTE, NC – Sometimes fans of the English-speaking Panthers hear the call from the team’s Spanish radio network only when something important is going on.
“The biggest compliment we can get is knowing that American fans, and those who don’t speak Spanish, are enjoying the broadcast,” said announcer Antonio Ramos.
Ramos is part of a two-person broadcast team alongside Jaime Moreno for the Spanish radio network Carolina Panthers.
His last call for Laviska Shenault’s 67-yard touchdown has been viewed more than two million times.
“They say they don’t know what they’re saying, but it sounds great and full of energy,” Ramos said.
Ramos’ journey in bringing that energy into transmission is fantastic.
“It’s crazy,” he said. “But on this I am very humble. And everything that God knows or fate has put in my way.
And it seems that this is Ramos’ fate.
Growing up in Xalapa, Veracruz, on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, he became a fan of the Panthers, far from being a rebel.

Three years ago, he landed his dream job.
Ramos not only hosts the Panthers Games, but also invites the Charlotte Club and helped bring the Spanish Panthers Radio Network to seven states in Mexico.
“Many of my friends have said that you are living your dream,” Ramos said. “And I say it’s actually better than my dreams.”
The Panthers will travel to Los Angeles on Sunday to face the Rams.
