Ayse Öztürk’s kidneys do not work properly from birth. Unlike most dialysis patients, she now washes her blood at home or while traveling, with a device the size of a picnic basket that weighs around 30 kilograms. “That’s what I’ve fought for for a long time,” says the 23-year-old.
