Better all-day care: Hamburg tops when funds are called

More is not possible: Hamburg has drawn on all the funds provided by the federal government to strengthen all-day care in primary schools. Four other countries are also at 100 percent or just below.

The Hanseatic city has drawn on all federal funds for the accelerated expansion of all-day care for primary school children. This emerges from data from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs for the years 2021 and 2022, which are available to the German Press Agency. Accordingly, all available 19.18 million euros flowed to Hamburg. Saarland also gets 100 percent. Bremen, Saxony-Anhalt and Baden-Württemberg rank just below.

The money could be used, for example, to buy or refurbish buildings, furniture, play and sports equipment, insofar as this creates additional childcare places for primary school children. The acceleration program for all-day care with federal financial aid expired on December 31, 2022. The data from the Federal Ministry comes from the past few days. Late registrations are still possible.
