Kharkiv Oblast Mayor Ivan Stolbovoy has begun cooperating with the Russian occupying forces, Olek Sinekhubov, head of the Kharkiv oblast’s military administration, told the Telegram app on Monday.

“The traitors will face many years in prison. Ivan Stolbovoy, the leader of the Balaklia territorial community, has started cooperating with the occupiers. He has publicly announced this to the residents of the community, ”Sinekhubov said.
He added that Stolbovoy had “betrayed the interests of the state, betrayed the defenders of Ukraine and the local population”.
“Ivan Stolbov is now going to work with those who are killing our people and destroying our cities,” Sinehubov said.
He recalled that Ukraine’s Supreme Rada (parliament) had stepped up criminal prosecution for treason, “waiting for the President of the Balaklia community from 15 years in prison to life imprisonment.”
“Everyone who sits at the negotiating table with the Russian occupiers will have such a punishment!” stressed Sinehubov.
A video appeared on the web on Monday in which Stolbowoy addresses the community.
“Yesterday I spoke with the leadership of the Russian army, and they also offered their help. It is your right to take it or not to take it, but we are organizing the work of humanitarian distribution points today. There will be flour, potatoes. No one else will help us today, do you understand? [..] We will do everything we can to revitalize the life and activities of our city. I think we will meet with them afterwards to give us access to electricity and water, and so on, ”said the mayor.
It was previously reported that two deputies of the city council, a former mayor and a former militiaman, had started cooperating with the occupiers in the town of Izjum in the Kharkiv region.
