Towards the end of a long interview about the Fallout TV show, IGN asked Bethesda’s Todd Howard to talk about what the game studio does, including Star. The game’s creator has revealed that fans of the sci-fi RPG can expect “excellent updates” to be announced soon.
I avoid assigning dates to anything. I learned this the hard way. Obviously, in terms of new developments, we are now focusing on it The Elder Scrolls VI, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be making plans for something else. We’re still working on a lot, obviously Fallout 76, and we see a community, so many people coming into this game and kind of rediscovering it and just really happy with where this game is at. It has one of the best communities in the entire gaming industry. Surprisingly, it’s a very good apocalypse, and we’re also working a lot on Starfield. We have some great updates for this game that will be announced soon. So there is a lot going on.
Bethesda has already done a lot of work on Starfield this year. Patch 1.9.51.0 was released at the end of January and improved several graphical elements. A few weeks later, update 1.9.67.0 added support for AMD FSR 3 and Intel XeSS upscalers on PC. However, this is only a small part of the overall plans for 2024. Bethesda said that Starfield will get city maps, completely new ways to get around, and, of course, official mod support.
