Beta iOS 14.4 has code for notification if iPhone does not have original camera – Tablets and phones – News

This seems nice for those who want to buy second-hand or refurbished iPhones.
Then you can be sure that these components are original.

The article states that the notification is also given for original apple parts that have been taken from other phones of the same type.

That, along with the fact that all kinds of features are disabled, even if it is an original apple part, but only replaced by an unauthorized repairer, shows that it is mainly about curtailing the ‘right to repair’. If they can’t actually curtail that right to repair, then just make the unofficial repairs unattractive, so people opt for expensive apple repairs anyway, with expensive apple parts.

Do not get me wrong. I am in favor of the fact that when you buy a second-hand telephone you can see whether a repair has been carried out with a non-original (= possible inferior) part, or even that you can see that a repair has been done by an unofficial (and thus possible less trained) repairman. But that is very different from disabling features just because an unofficial repair has taken place.

And I also know that unofficial parts and unofficial repairers aren’t necessarily bad, and maybe sometimes better, but buying a second-hand phone does add risk.
