WENDLINGEN. Dimmed lights, a large screen and speakers. With her unusual concept, bestselling author Maria Nikolai takes the audience into a world of the early 20th century in the almost full hall on Friday evening in the “Treffpunkt Stadtmitte”. She reads about love, pain, strokes of fate and strong women. The screen in the background underscores your words with the right images, and delicate sounds skilfully underline the respective emotional states.
But not only the author reads. Again and again, individual passages come from the tape, which are also represented in a commercially available audio book. The guests like the second voice, which was recorded by Beate Himmelstoss. This special type of reading is more reminiscent of a cozy evening watching TV with the family. An effect that is deliberately chosen and requires a lot of preparation and technique.
Maria Nikolai seems small in front of the big screen, which takes up almost the entire back of the hall. But the predominantly female audience was able to concentrate on the essentials, the story of Lilly.
