From the eighth and last part in the popular Seven Sistersseries by writer Lucinda Riley, more than 150,000 Dutch copies have already been sold. That’s where the counter was on Saturday, reports publisher Xander.
Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt Thursday achieved the best release figures for a new book since 2007. On the first day that the book was released in the Netherlands, about 100,000 copies were sold.
The last time a book sold that well in one day was in 2007. Then the last part of Harry Potter came out, The Deathly Hallows.
The first edition of Atlas amounted to 350,000 copies. That almost never happens in the Netherlands. Many bookstores opened their doors at midnight to give fans the chance to buy a copy right away.
Of Seven Sistersseries is about a group of sisters who come together in their parental home after the death of their father. After his death, they all received a mysterious letter about their origins. Writer Riley had promised her fans an eighth book, in which she would answer the question who the mysterious adoptive father Pa Salt is.
Riley completed key passages of the eighth book before her passing in June 2021. In addition, she made detailed notes about the plot. It was her express wish that her eldest son Harry Whittaker would complete the series after her death.
