The Nature Conservancy has announced the winners of its 2023 photo contest. The jury selected the best wildlife photographs from photographers from 191 countries.

The winner of the main prize was Litaushki Tibor for his underwater photograph of a newt and its eggs.

In the “People and Nature” category, the list of winners was topped by Michael Hegy’s photograph “Breakfast on Balloons.”

Hermis Haridas is the winner of the special jury prize with the photograph “Whisper of Dawn”: the silhouette of a hoopoe against the background of the rising sun.

Photographer Rafael Alves topped the Climate category with Stuck: 33-year-old Euridica Castro holds her nephew Otavio in the window as her son Aquiles plays in rising rivers in Anama, Brazil.

The best image in the Freshwater category was “Dry Fish Pond”: a dry pond in Hong Kong, holes dug by fish during spawning.

In second place in this category is Alan Taylor with his “Cool Drink”: an animal drinks from the Oconaluftee River in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, USA.

First place, aerial photography: life inside the yellow fields, a small settlement in the city of Swidnica, Poland, surrounded by rapeseed fields.

Russell Laman, “Phantoms Move” – winner of the category “Underwater Life”.

Esteban Rezkall’s “Gang of Rangiroa” won best photograph in the Oceans category, featuring dolphins playing in the waves with a passing ship.

First place, birds: a common sandbill builds a nest in the marshes of Biebrza National Park in Poland.

The winner of the Earth category is September snow through the eyes of Allesandro Carboni, Sound and Vision.
