The special broadcast of Dear Singers last Thursday raised a total of more than 1.6 million euros for Children’s Cancer Foundation (Kica). AVROTROS announced this on Monday.
In the programme, host Jan Smit and singers Jaap Reesema, Tabitha, Tania, Henk Poort, Maria Fiselier and Glen Faria invited viewers to donate to KiKa. This was done en masse, according to the broadcaster. During the broadcast it was shown that the lines had become overloaded for a short time.
1,290,000 people watched the Dear Singers-special. This earned the program second place on the list of most watched programs of that day.
Proceeds from the special will go to the Princess Máxima Pediatric Oncology Center in Utrecht, which will be expanded with two extra floors for research.
