Sony dominates the ranking, with three consoles sold over 100 million copies: the Playstation, the PS2 and the PS4.
As Sony and Microsoft prepare to launch their latest generations of consoles, the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, it is interesting to observe the performance of their previous versions. We note that Sony is largely at the top of the ranking of the ten best selling home consoles, with the first three places for its older generations, respectively the PS2, PS4 and Playstation, as well as fifth place with the PS3. Or 458 million consoles sold in total.

The big competitor Microsoft has only two consoles in the ranking, the Xbox 360 (85.8 million copies sold) and the Xbox One (47.8 million). The rest of the ranking is occupied by Nintendo with its Wii, NES, Switch, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 consoles, for just over 300 million cumulative sales (the ranking does not include portable consoles).
