Best-selling car brand in October 2022, Hyundai accelerates to start catching up with Mitsubishi

Jakarta

Auto sales in Indonesia in October recorded a decline. Data from the Indonesian Automobile Industries Association (Gaikindo) for October found that wholesale sales reached 93,197 units, down from an earlier 99,986 units in September 2022.

Retail sales (retailers to consumers) are the same. If in September it reached 95,422 units, in October it only reached 89,651 units.

Overall, from January to October 2022, wholesale auto sales hit 851,413 units. With two months remaining, hitting the 960,000-unit sales goal doesn’t seem difficult.

As for the best-selling brand in Indonesia, Toyota is still firmly at the top. In the tenth month, Toyota’s wholesale sales reached 33,740 units. For all of 2022, Toyota recorded wholesale sales of 276,820 units. Thanks to this score, Toyota currently has a market share of 32.5%.

Daihatsu is still in second place with sales reaching 17,489 units. In third place is Honda. Honda seems to still have problems with the semiconductor chip crisis. The reason is that in September Honda managed to carve 13,374 units, then in October, the number dropped dramatically to 9,962 units.

Honda was followed by Suzuki. Suzuki had sales of 7,663 units in October. Fulfilling the fifth position is Mitsubishi. Factory sales with the three diamond logo on a wholesale basis hit just 6,108 units, up slightly from 6,056 units in September. While in the top 10, Hyundai continues to accelerate and is now closing in on Suzuki in the top five. Hyundai, which was “left behind” by Wuling, is now moving forward.

In October, Hyundai’s wholesale sales hit 3,505 units while Wuling’s 2,957 units. In more detail, here is a list of the best-selling car brands in Indonesia for October 2022.
