Sales of new passenger cars continued their recovery in November. After eleven months, more cars have already been registered than in each of the previous three full years (2020, 2021 and 2022), the Federal Public Service Mobility & Transport and the Febiac federation announced on Friday.
During the month of November, 37,552 new passenger cars were registered, more than a quarter more than in November 2022. After eleven months, the counter stands at 450,960 registrations, almost a third more than in the same period last year. The car brand BMW was the most popular so far this year, with a market share of around 10.5 percent, ahead of Volkswagen and Mercedes.
Motorized two-wheelers (motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers and light four-wheelers) amount to 24,742 new registrations after eleven months. That is already more than in the entire year of 2022.
The same can be said of commercial vehicles. For light commercial vehicles (up to 3.5 tonnes), 63,904 new vehicles were registered during the first eleven months of the year, almost a quarter more than in the same period last year. “This is fully in line with the average market for this vehicle category over the past ten years as a whole,” it said in a press release. And also for heavy trucks, both those up to 16 tons and those of more than 16 tons, the counter is higher after eleven months than in the whole of 2022.
