Pajero Sport is recommended to use certain fuel to suit engine specifications. The following are the types of fuel that are suitable for Pajero Sport.
Each car has its own specifications. To be able to support vehicle performance, one way is to use fuel according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. For example, for the Pajero Sport car, the fuel used is certainly not arbitrary.
So, to find out the recommended fuel according to the engine specifications, you can see it in the manual. In the Mitsubishi manual, the 2022 Pajero Sport is recommended to use fuel with a cetane number of 51 or higher. It is also important to note that the fuel must have a sulfur content of less than 50 ppm.
“Using diesel fuel of a lower type than recommended can have a negative effect on exhaust emissions, as well as engine capability and durability,” reads the Pajero Sport manual.
Talking about the type, fuel with a cetane number of 51 is found in the Dexlite variant. However, the sulfur is still high, namely a maximum of 1,200 ppm. From Pertamina, for diesel fuel there is also Pertamina Dex. Pertamina Dex is a diesel fuel with cetane number 53 with 50 ppm sulfur.
Apart from Pertamina, Shell also has diesel fuel with low sulfur content and a cetane number equivalent to 51. That fuel is Shell V-Power Diesel.
For those of you who just want to buy a Pajero Sport, you should pay special attention to this fuel. It is written that the use of low quality fuel can cause deposits in the injector. This deposit also causes black smoke and rough idle.
If such problems arise, then it is recommended that you add a cleaner additive to the diesel fuel when your vehicle is refueled. The additive will break down and remove deposits, thereby returning the engine to normal condition. The additives used are of course manufactured from the manufacturer so as not to damage the engine.
