Skoda Superb Combi

The second generation Superb is such a classic. Those who don’t like to fit in probably won’t reach for it, but for others, the used Superb has a few nice advantages. The technical affinity with the Passat is known to everyone, but it is not one hundred percent. The Superb has some technical (including electrical) solutions that are simpler, and as time has proven, i more reliable and cheaper to service. An advantage can also be a design that is still after several years unwatched. There is plenty of room in the interior, although headroom in the rear seat area is not ideal. This is due to the sloping roof, which then takes away a little practicality from the luggage compartment. With 554 litres, it doesn’t have the Superb, but it’s still a decent value.

In the case of motors, it is very simple. In the advertisements, you will almost exclusively come across the 1.7 CRDi engine. It is also the best choice, but focus on 2015 cars and newer. In them, this engine has been improved – it meets the Euro 6 standard and offers a higher output of 104 kW. It’s no miracle, and it simply has no competition for more powerful power units, but it will still please the calmer driver. Yippee economical and very reliable. The same can be said about the automatic transmission, which is one of the most reliable ever.

Peugeot 508 SW

The family station wagon from Peugeot is another an inconspicuous representative of the middle class. There aren’t many of them in the bazaars, but those who look for them will find them and they will certainly not be disappointed for their money. We would look at the version after the facelift from 2015, which slightly revived the appearance and made the 508 a more modern looking car. The spaciousness of the interior is class average. The maximum trunk volume of 550 liters will not surprise anyone either. Peugeot 508 but excels in long-distance transferswhere its comfortable nature stands out.

Under the hood definitely choose the 2.0 HDi diesel engine. Dynamically capable, economical and very reliable – simply a great engine. Then to the character of the car the automatic transmission fits well, which has also been tried and tested for years. A more powerful 2.2 HDi diesel engine was also available. However, its parameters stand out only at higher loads. There are so few gasoline power units on offer (and for good reason) that it’s not even worth looking for them.
