Besides Blackout, Former KKM Called This Fatal Can Happen at KRI Nanggala-402

Surabaya

Former Head of Machine Room (KKM) KRI Nanggala-402 submarine Admiral TNI (ret) Frans Wuwung said the possibility of blackout was one of the causes of the disappearance KRI Nanggala-402. Frans also mentioned that there was one other fatal thing that could also cause the ship to disappear.

“Because there is one thing that is the most dangerous, not because of blackout. However, it seems difficult to happen, namely the battery room is filled with sea water. But it is almost difficult to happen. Wong he (the ship) is just ready to sail and is just diving, so how come it is possible. leak, “said Frans when met by reporters at his residence, Friday (23/4/2021).

During his time as KKM KRI Nanggala-402 since 1985, Frans said that he had never experienced this fatal thing. Only blackout has ever experienced and he survived.

Even so, there is the potential for the battery room to fill with seawater if the ship is at a depth greater than its limit.

“There is only a theory, the battery room enters seawater, then electrolytes mixed with sea water. Then the gas floor appears white and zero point for a few seconds, it breaks (while his hand is holding a miniature ship) and everything (breaks). But how come it’s hard to happen, “he explained.

Frans then predicted, if KRI Nanggala-402 is at a depth of about 200-300 meters, the crew can survive until tomorrow, Saturday (24/4).

“I agree with KSAL, but the depth must be allowed, if it is more than allowed there is no story. Ability to survive, if this is the case now, then my calculation is Saturday, if he is at a depth, for example at 200 meters until Saturday (he may survive),” he continued.

Frans also suspected the cause of the disappearance KRI Nanggala-402 because the converter is faulty.

“I am KKM Nanggala Approximately 1985. My analysis shows that the name blackout means power loss, the equipment cannot be moved and the steering is in a diving position. The motor has stopped, but is headed down. And maybe the crew had something that took too long to look for the cause of the blackout. My analysis is that the converter has a problem, “he said.

Frans explained, the use of the converter itself is to convert DC to AC currents. Because, the power generated by the battery in the submarine is DC.

“If a submarine is blackout, the power is from the battery, the current is DC directional. For equipment on this submarine it requires AC current, there must be a converter to convert the current to AC. If the blackout has no communication, there is no power, it means that the battery does not reach the equipment. . Whether it is a means of communication, everything does not arrive. Because this tool requires AC power, it means that the converter has technical problems, “he explained.

“My experience has been a blackout and the ship is in a position to go to the depths. If the KKM dives, we can take a break and we leave it to the dive wheel. So when I get off I have a blackout. On our submarine there is an emergency light, which is near us we can turn on- Right with a special battery. As soon as we can turn on the blackout. Now when blackout, our anticipation is that we usually look for a switch that falls (down) because it is automatic. Maybe they are looking for a switch that doesn’t find it in the ship’s down position. If we can look for it again (the switch) and it can be turned on again (normal again). I am worried that when the blackout is panic, it’s especially time for the morning (to dive), “said Frans.
