On Saturday, Reinis Bērziņš took 11th place in Nagoya in the second stage of the World Cup short track in the distance of 1,500 meters.

In the semi-finals, he finished fourth in his skating competition with seven skaters, covering two minutes and 20,722 seconds and making it to the B finals. The Latvian was 0.126 seconds behind the second place, which reached the A final.

Later in the B final, Bērziņš also took the fourth place among seven skaters, finishing after two minutes and 29,151 seconds, which gave the 11th place in the stage.

The victory was won by Yuri Confortola, who won convincingly, ahead of South Korean Hwang Dehon and Chinese Lon Dog by more than nine seconds.

Roberts Krūzbergs was disqualified for the places in the skating and took the 28th place in the competition of 84 skaters.

In the 500 meters fight for places beyond the semi-final, both Latvians were in one skate, Krūzbergs was 0.3 seconds ahead of Bērziņš and ranked second in the skate. In the overall ranking, both 27th and 28th place respectively among 85 short trackers.

The winner was Dehon, who overtook the Chinese Fishy Rehn and the Kazakh shorts tracker Denis Nikits in the A final.

The second round of the World Cup in Japan will run until Sunday. Andy Wigant does not start in Japan due to the injury sustained in the first stage.

At the end of November, the next stages will take place in Hungary and the Netherlands. In the World Cup stages, athletes are fighting for points in the qualification of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games.-
