Edwin Broeders, founder, drummer and singer of the Brabant band Bertus Staigerpaip, passed away on Saturday at the age of 57. His brother Ruud, who is also in the band, told the ANP. Edwin Broeders passed away as a result of a heart attack.
The band Bertus Staigerpaip was founded in 1984 in Geertruidenberg by Edwin Broeders who was a crane operator at the time. They made famous songs that made it into the Top 40, such as We are the construction boys, I wasn’t paying attention for a moment in Row.
On that last song, which is to the melody of the hit Kiss by Prince is made, Edwin sang. Bertus Staigerpaip was also the opening act for Normaal several times.
