It is still not certain that Bert Huisjes will return to WNL. Chairman Loek Hermans of the supervisory board announced this in an internal email to employees. AD has this email in his hands. The supervisory board previously announced that Huisjes would return, but not as editor-in-chief.
“We first want the discussions to be conducted calmly and carefully. The outcome is not fixed for us. Only then will the Supervisory Board make further decisions.” With the discussions, the Board refers to discussions between employees and Huisjes. According to the Supervisory Board, the earlier statement was ‘a misunderstanding’.
Dozens of (former) WNL employees told the newspaper earlier this year AD about transgressive behavior within the broadcasting company. According to (former) employees, Huisjes went to extraordinary lengths with substantive interference. He was suspended and KPMG started an investigation. In addition, an internal satisfaction survey was conducted by the Ipsos agency.
The Supervisory Board previously concluded on the basis of the secret KPMG investigation that there was no ‘legally reprehensible transgressive behaviour’. This was met with dismay from many employees.
