Goalkeeper Bernd Leno, 30, is on the list of potential reinforcements presented by Roger Schmidt to Benfica officials. The German international is Ramsdale’s substitute at Arsenal, a club with which he has a contract until June 2023 and where he earns an unbearable salary for the Reds (more than five million euros a year), so there is no room for negotiation.
The new coach of the eagles knows Leno well from the times when they both worked together at Bayer Leverkusen, between 2014 and 2017, with the goalkeeper always being a starter with Schmidt, maintaining the status he already held before the arrival of the coach. Interestingly, they faced Benfica four times for Leverkusen, adding one win, one draw and two defeats.
