Bernadette Isaac-Sibille died this Saturday January 2 at the age of 90. For 25 years, she has established herself in Lyon political life and in the National Assembly.
She became a municipal councilor in 1977 before being elected mayor of the 5th arrondissement, a first for a woman in Lyon, in 1983. She was then elected to the cantons before tackling the legislative elections against a certain Gérard Collomb .
“Politics is something serious”
In 1988, Gérard Collomb chose a running mate that was too centrist for the Communists, who did not support him. An unhappy alliance for Collomb, but happy for Bernadette Isaac-Sibille, who tackles her opponent. “I believe voters taught politicians a lesson by showing them that politics is something serious, which must be done by serious people, and not calculations and carryovers as if we own our votes “she said in this Antenna 2 report:
Bernadette Isaac-Sibille will then pursue her career in the National Assembly until 2002. In fact, she will be re-elected in 1993 against a candidate from the National Front and in 1997, again against the unfortunate Gérard Collomb.
Mother of four children, including the current deputy Cyrille Isaac-Sibille, she called herself a “family activist” and wanted a real ministry of the family.
